Because of Renato's quiet and serious nature, he is sometimes mistaken by peers as being arrogant or thinking he's better than everyone else. He doesn't make friends easily, is a true introvert, and when he does make friends it's usually because he's been "adopted" by some extrovert who takes an interest in him. Once he knows someone well enough, he can be playful and even witty, but mostly only in private. In public he tends to be more reserved.

Background
Renato has lost a lot of people in his life to death and tragedy. Parents, childhood friends, more distant family. He lives with his aunt, who cares for him but is overworked and rarely home, so she doesn't give him as much attention as she'd like to. This has resulted in Ren being self-reliant, learning to cook his own meals (as well as food for his aunt), and even bake. He has a weakness for chocolate chip cookies.
He has great interest in learning things, and has done deep dives into random skills and hobbies, such as painting and knitting (and baking sweets). Primarily he loves to read, and can easily get absorbed into books, as fiction and fantasy has been his primary coping mechanism throughout his life.
