BODY AND APPEARANCE 1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy? Cris is lean and somewhat on the short side. He's the exact height of the sculpture he was born from: 5'4". 2. How old is he? He's stopped celebrating his birthday, but if you give him a second to calculate it he'd tell you he's 100. As a Spirit, his body doesn't age though, he looks 19. 3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch? He slouches a little, especially if he's feeling shy. If he's sitting, he has a tendency to bring his knees up to his chest, sort of folding in on himself. 4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities? Not really applicable since he's a spirit. 5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid? His movements are graceful, though visibly cautious at times. He walks lightly, touches things gently, etc. 6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror? He's often described as beautiful or cute, with somewhat feminine features. He occasionally gets self-conscious about forever looking 19. In some places, that's not even old enough to drink. 7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred? His complexion is light, clear and smooth. He's born from a glass statue, after all. However, he doesn't have glass for skin nor is it transparent at all. Outside of being flawless, it's normal human skin. 8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style. He has dark red hair, short but with long mid-parted bangs that frame his face. This is the same style he's always had, though he's changed hair color a few times in his existence. Texture is soft and smooth, continuing on the whole glass theme here. 9. What color are his eyes? He has brown eyes, not dark but not honey either. A pretty average brown, if you ask him. 10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features? ( W I P ) 11. What are his chief tension centers? Shoulders, mid-back. 12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit? Comfortable clothes, generally in a preppy kind of style. Neutrals, lots of khaki, navy blue, hunter green, etc. In contrast to this, he has a penchant for wearing eccentric patterned socks. He has a collection of them. 13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them? He tends to wear clothes that are sort of loose, especially shirts and sweaters. He does seem comfortable in them. 14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences? As a writer/poet, he works from home, so his clothes are the same. 15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando? Boxer briefs. SPEECH 1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse? Specifically, think Mona Marshall as Toboe from Wolf's Rain. 2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate? Usually fairly soft and evenly, though he does hesitate often. Stutters when nervous. 3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics? ( W I P ) 4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency? Too many and quite well. This will be more specific when I've decided which exact ones. 5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations? Italian is his native language, even if he no longer has the accent from years spent away from his home country. But when sleepy or afraid, he may slip back into Italian. 6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words? He definitely has to think about his words, especially if he doesn't want to come off as irrationally emotional. 7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change? For the most part, he's eloquent even despite his hesitation ("um"s and "ah"s and pauses with silence), but the words he uses after his pauses for thought do belay his intelligence level and he communicates effectively. This can change under duress. MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL 1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart? Very intelligent, but far more book-smart than street-smart. However, he's good at detecting manipulation. 2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate? This is situational, but for the most part he can think on his feet. 3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical? Idealistic and intuitive, he "thinks with his heart." This can lead to decisions based on emotion and also depressing trains of thought. 4. What kind of education has the character had? ( W I P ) 5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about? The Arts, all art, is fascinating to him and he's studied a lot over the years. When he was first born, he helped his Master with glass-blowing all the time, but it's not something he's done in ages. Now his expertise lies in poetry. 6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert? An introvert, but can be mistaken for an extrovert. He gets along well with people, communicates easily with them and enjoys doing so, but will need time to recharge after too much socializing. Big crowds and rowdy social events are rare occurrences, and he'll probably need a week to recover. 7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven? He's nervous often, and has mood swings, but he rarely gets angry at people and has never gotten violent. He can be awfully melancholy and broody at times, but then when speaking about or with a loved one he can turn cheerful and sappy. 8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic? Timid, almost always timid. He is a timid, shy, hesitant little mouse of a Spirit. 9. Is he more likely to act, or to react? React? This question is a little confusing. 10. Which is his default: fight or flight? Flight, unless someone he love's in danger, in which case he will either fight.... or try and get said loved one to flee, too. 11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks? Jokes and puns are appreciated, even terrible puns will probably still get a smile from him. Gallows humor is appreciated when appropriate, but he's not one for bathroom humor or pranks. Pranks may genuinely upset him. 12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them? ( W I P ) 13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person? ANSWER HERE 14. What does he fear? ANSWER HERE 15. What are his hopes or aspirations? ANSWER HERE 16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him? ANSWER HERE RELATIONSHIPS 1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents. ANSWER HERE 2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like? ANSWER HERE 3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand? ANSWER HERE 4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them? ANSWER HERE 5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet? ANSWER HERE 6. Does he have other close friends? ANSWER HERE 7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people? ANSWER HERE 8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends? ANSWER HERE 9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once? ANSWER HERE 10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse? ANSWER HERE 11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest? ANSWER HERE 12. What does he look for in a romantic partner? ANSWER HERE 13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any? ANSWER HERE 14. Does he have any rivals or enemies? ANSWER HERE 15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale? ANSWER HERE 16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him? ANSWER HERE 17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits? ANSWER HERE BELIEFS ANSWER HERE 2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life? ANSWER HERE 3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it? ANSWER HERE 4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent? ANSWER HERE 5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them? ANSWER HERE DAILY LIFE 1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt? ANSWER HERE 2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him? ANSWER HERE 3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others? ANSWER HERE 4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on? ANSWER HERE 5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else? ANSWER HERE 6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time? ANSWER HERE 7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
